The compact size makes the radio ultra-portable which combined with the short stubby antenna and rounded edges makes it comfortable to carry in both pockets and handbags. SL1600 is also designed to be easy to use. With a volume control and a structured push-to-talk button on the side and a dedicated power button and channel selector on the top, all buttons are accessible with the same hand. The feature “fast toggle” also enables users to jump through ten channels at a time.
Perhaps the most noticeable innovation on the radio is the LED display integrated in the housing. The solution allows the user gets useful information without a fragile display.
As a part of the MOTOTRBO family, the SL1600 offers both analogue and digital communications in UHF as well as VHF. The radio also supports many of the features available in Motorola’s range of digital two-way radios (DMR), such as Transmit Interrupt.
